The Finland international recently regained his position between the posts and acknowledges the competition within the club.

Ahead of their Europa League fixture against Benfica, Sinisalo said: "Oh yeah, of course it is. Every footballer wants to play.

"That’s no different with me."

He also admits that Johnstone's presence poses a significant challenge but believes it benefits everyone involved. "Sam’s been brilliant since he’s come in. The way he trains every day with me and Ross [Doohan] is really helpful to both of us.

"The competition only helps both of us."

Despite the competition, Sinisalo is eager to establish himself as Celtic’s first choice. He added: "I suppose it goes game by game. But I’ve always said I want to be that guy.

"That’s never been different from the moment I arrived at the football club. I want to be that guy. I need to show that I’m playing in a way that there is no decision to be made.

"It’s quite simple as that, to be honest."
