Fabrizio Romano provides Michael Carrick future update amid intense speculation

Michael Carrick is under pressure at Manchester United, putting him under further scrunity whilst subsequently leading to more questions about his future.

Defeats to Atletico Madrid and Como in the Champions League over the course of the past two weeks have added to the pressure on Carrick.

Alongside just one win in seven Premier League games, these results mean his first permanent season at United has not got off to the best of starts.

Today’s game against Bournemouth offers a chance to improve prospects, hope, and Carrick’s own job prospects ahead of another crucial set of fixtures leading up to November’s international break.

Ahead of the match, journalist Fabrizio Romano has now provided an update on the manager’s current situation and Manchester United’s plans in relation to the managerial position.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Romano has said that the club will evaluate the situation leading up to the November international break.

The journalist has also described the next few weeks as “absolutely crucial” in Carrick’s future at Old Trafford.

Despite defeat to Como on Tuesday evening, too, Romano says that United are willing to give Carrick time to improve prospects at the club.

It remains unclear when Manchester United could draw the line under Carrick’s reign at the club, and whether that line will be drawn before the manager can fix operations.

Today’s fixture against Bournemouth is absolutely imperative in ensuring that Carrick can approach a full week of training with confidence in his squad once again.

Victory in the game will likely raise fan morale, hand hope to Manchester United’s players, and give confidence to the club’s hierarchy that Michael Carrick can deliver success to the stop.

It will be about whether the manager can deliver good results on a consistent basis that dictates his future at the club. For now, though, one win is certainly better than none.
