Ipswich Town - Ali Al-Hamadi set for new Sheffield Wednesday boss

The Owls sacked head coach Henrik Pedersen after less than 15 months in charge following back-to-back defeats in the third tier.

They were relegated from the Championship last season after financial problems and an 18-point penalty which pretty much relegated them before a ball was kicked.

Pedersen was an EFL League One Manager of the Month award nominee in August, but the South Yorkshire side have now chosen to make a change, with them currently sitting outside the play-offs spots.

Matt Hamshaw is taking interim charge, while the club undertakes the process of appointing their next boss, with former Stockport County manager Dave Challinor the current favourite.

Al-Hamadi moved to the Hillsborough Stadium on a season-long loan in August, after a loan move to Polish side Raków Częstochowa collapsed earlier in the summer due to a medical issue.

The Iraqi international has yet to score in his opening eight games for Wednesday, having had an injury hit campaign at Luton Town in the third tier during 2025/26.
