Where fans think Newcastle United will finish this season compared to when asked 4 months ago

The question we were asking fans on Sunday: Where do you now predict Newcastle United will finish in the 2026-27 Premier League season?

Which place in the table do Newcastle United fans think their team will end up in, after the final round of matches on Sunday 30 May 2027?

The last four league campaigns had seen Eddie Howe and his players finish the season in 4th, 7th, 5th and 12th places.

No European distractions this time.

A new manager in Matthias Jaissle and this much changed Newcastle United team and squad having the 38 Premier League matches to contend with, plus the two domestic cup competitions.

Newcastle United having currently played eight Premier League matches and on 11 points.

The rest of the Premier League clubs have played nine matches, with Newcastle facing Everton tonight to complete the ninth round of EPL matches.

A win on Monday night would take Newcastle 7th in the Premier League table, a draw would mean 9th, a defeat would take NUFC down to 13th or 14th depending on how big a losing margin it was.

The big question in six and a half months’ time, where will NUFC finish in this 2026-27 Premier League season?

1st – 1% (2%)
2nd – 0% (1%)
3rd – 0% (2%)
4th – 0% (4%)
5th – 1% (8%)
6th – 2% (13%)
7th – 3% (13%)
8th – 5% (13%)
9th – 4% (6%)
10th – 9% (8%)
11th – 6% (3%)
12th – 14% (4%)
13th – 10% (2%)
14th – 12% (4%)
15th – 11% (4%)
16th – 8% (3%)
17th – 7% (4%)
18th – 5% (3%)
19th – 1% (1%)
20th – 1% (1%)

Conclusions

As you can see, a huge change from when we asked Newcastle United fans the same question four months ago.

When asked the question on 5 July, over half (53%) predicted Newcastle United finishing somewhere between fifth and ninth, now only 15% are believing a 5th to 9th finish.

Four months ago only 22% of Newcastle United fans that voted thought NUFC would finish 13th or lower, that has now rocketed to 55%.

Taking all the votes overall, six weeks ago they averaged out at a finishing position of around eighth, that average has now become fourteenth.

This feels a bit of a pivotal time as to how this Premier League season could turn out. Everton at home and then Fulham away on Saturday before the international break. A couple of wins and things looking up, a couple of defeats and…
