Former Premier League boss rallies behind Wrexham manager

Parkinson took over at The Racecourse in July 2021 and success quickly followed with the 58-year-old leading the north Wales club - owned by Hollywood stars Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac - to a record-breaking three successive promotions.

Wrexham climbed from the National League to the Championship and only just missed out on the play-offs on their first season back in the second tier for 43 years.

The Reds have made a slow start to the current campaign and Saturday's 2-0 defeat against Blackburn Rovers at Ewood Park leaves Parkinson's side 17th in the table with 14 points from 12 games.

Although they've not clicked in the opening quarter of the season, former Premier League manager Pulis, who had spells in charge of clubs such as Stoke City and West Brom, has backed Parkinson to turn things around.

"With three-game weeks, you can be 13th or 14th in the league, win three games on the bounce, and be in the top four or five," Pulis told CasinoHawks

"That's how crazy that league is and it’s the same for Wrexham.

"Again, there's a bigger turnover of managers in the Championship than any other league because of the golden egg that awaits them if they finish in the top spots and get promoted.

"But what Phil's done at Wrexham is just extraordinary. If he had a little bit of a blip, is he not allowed a little bit of a blip?

"I'd be amazed if they did anything there but they need to push on."
