Pittsburgh Steelers running back Jaylen Warren continues to turn heads this season. He had his fourth 100-yard rushing game this season in the Steelers’ 27-6 win over the Cleveland Browns on Sunday.
Warren rushed for 143 yards on 17 carries (8.4 yards per carry) and one touchdown against Cleveland. Warren’s 143 yards rushing tied his single-game record, which was set in Week 16 last year against the Detroit Lions.
Warren has five games with +125 yards from scrimmage this year.
A strong argument could be made that Warren is the best running back in the NFL right now. Pete Schrager of ESPN thinks Warren is in the conversation.
“This guy has been a much bigger surprise than anyone expected. Jaylen Warren is in the conversation for being the best running back in football this season. If I had an All-Pro vote, I could go a lot of different directions. You could make a case for Kenneth Walker, Bijan Robinson, or Jahmyr Gibbs. But I might go with Jaylen Warren,” Schrager said on His Big Day With Schrager podcast earlier this week. “He leads the NFL in scrimmage yards since Week 3, and it feels like every time the Steelers need a big play, he’s the one keeping their offense alive. In a league filled with bigger names like Christian McCaffrey and Bijan Robinson, Jaylen Warren has been a rock star for the Pittsburgh Steelers. By the time this season is over, he might just be the NFL’s RB1.”
Heading into Week 8, Warren ranks seventh in rushing yards (571), second in yards per carry on a minimum of 50 carries (5.5), fourth in yards from scrimmage (855), and has a Pro Football Focus rushing grade of 88.9, which is third-best.
Warren ranked second in rushing yards over expected per attempt, trailing only Kenneth Walker III.
