Pegged back to a 1-1 draw today, FC Augsburg's Fabian Rieder was livid after they failed get the better of 1.FC Union Berlin.

“For us, that feels like two points dropped today," the Swiss international said in his post-match interview in the mixed zone.

"Naturally, going five games without a win is frustrating. These spells are part of football, but we want to get through this together.

“We need to make better use of our numerical advantage and protect our lead. I’m absolutely convinced that we have the quality to do so,” he added.

His teammate, Anton Kade, hailed the resolute defending of their visitors from Köpenick who were a man down for 71 minutes.

"The opposition defended really compactly. It’s difficult to break through in that situation, but we have to come up with the answers.

"There were some good moves as well, so we shouldn’t look at everything negatively. We’re straight back in action during this busy week.

“The cup tie will be similarly difficult. We’ll need to be ready for plenty of individual battles,” Kade explained as Augsburg face Großaspach.
