Pressure is mounting on Steve Sarkisian after two straight defeats for the Texas Longhorns, and everyone’s asking: how long will the Texas boss stay in charge? A FOX Sports analyst has named two head coaches as possible replacements for Sark: one from the Big Ten and one from the SEC.
Chris Fallica discussed the troubles facing Steve Sarkisian and didn’t hesitate to name UCLA’s Bob Chesney and Kentucky’s Will Stein as two capable replacements for the Texas head coach.
“They (Texas) will probably turn around, and they will call Bob Chesney, a no-nonsense kinda guy who might be what Texas needs, or call Will Stein and make him an offer. The young, brash, bravado play caller, and you go down that route,” Fallica said on the Bear Bets podcast.
“They’re in really good spots and really good positions, with a whole lot of leverage right now at the schools that they’re at. Like I don’t know if I’m rushing to leave UCLA if I’m Bob Chesney to go to Texas, because there is no pressure at UCLA.”
Former UCLA head coach Rick Neuheisel said the Texas Longhorns might condense around Arch Manning in their game against Ole Miss, and it could be their downfall.
“I’m concerned for Texas in this game, not because I don’t think they’ll play hard and be geared up to play their best game of the season, but I feel like because of all the pressure on Arch, they’re going to condense, and condensing will not be the answer to going against Pete Golding’s defense,” he said on CBS.
While Arch Manning has kept Steve Sarkisian’s faith for now, it remains to be seen how long Sark persists, especially if things go wrong against Ole Miss on Saturday.
