Expected timetable for Patriots WR Romeo Doubs' injury revealed

The bad news for the New England Patriots is that veteran wide receiver Romeo Doubs is going on injured reserve and will miss at least the next four regular-season games.

However, the good news is that the shoulder injury he suffered in last week's win over the New York Jets might not keep him out longer than that. According to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler, Doubs is hopeful that he'll be able to return after the Week 11 bye.

He suffered the injury while hauling in a 42-yard touchdown pass from Patriots quarterback Drake Maye in the first quarter of the game. With teammates celebrating around him, completely unaware of the injury, Doubs remained on the ground, clutching at his shoulder. He was then helped up by his teammates and walked off the field with the trainers.

The hope was that Doubs would form a strong one-two punch at wide receiver with A.J. Brown, but the two veterans haven't been able to stay on the field. Brown suffered a high ankle sprain in the Week 1 game against the Seattle Seahawks that forced him to miss four games.

His return game was against the Jets.

With Doubs gone, the Patriots will have to lean on Brown, while also hoping they continue to get major contributions from the other receivers on their roster, including DeMario Douglas, Kyle Williams and Efton Chism III.
