LSU Tigers head coach Lane Kiffin was spotted praying on the sideline after a touchdown in their 31-0 shutout win over the Mississippi State Bulldogs.

The Tigers entered Saturday with more questions than certainties about their team, especially after losing to the Kentucky Wildcats 35-34 in OT last week for their second Conference loss in four weeks.

A game against the No. 16-ranked Mississippi State was their chance to re-establish themselves as one of the elite teams in CFB this season, and the Tigers maximised the same by shutting out their higher-ranked opponents.

Lane Kiffin’s moment of faith goes viral after LSU win

Kiffin was seen celebrating one of LSU’s four touchdowns in the 31-0 win by kneeling on the sideline and making the sign of the cross in celebration.

Fans caught on to this moment when it was shared on social media, reacting to the same.

“Better start praying to the injury gods,” said one fan while joking about the Tigers’ injury situation.

“Redemption arc,” said one fan supporting Kiffin.

“A phoney at every level,” said a fan, strongly criticising Kiffin’s praying as performative.

“Lane Christian,” said another fan, crafting a pun with the coach’s name.

“God loves the Tigers!” said one fan jokingly with a laughing emoji at the start.

Kiffin has been very open about his status as a born-again Christian, ignoring God early in his career but eventually finding his way back to his faith after early professional hiccups such as getting fired by the USC Trojans.

With his faith guiding him, Kiffin hopes he and the Tigers can pull off an incredible comeback this season and potentially go to the end of the season without losing another game.

They have a 2-2 SEC record, and if they hope to make the playoffs, they will need to avoid losing any more games until the end of the season, as three-loss teams rarely get a bid for the CFP.

All LSU can do is take it one game at a time, with a tough road matchup against Auburn coming up next.
