Ex-Celtic star Charlie Mulgrew thinks the club’s goalkeeper problem is far from resolved.
Celtic fell to a second successive Europa League defeat, giving themselves a tough task to qualify out of the league phase.

The 4-1 defeat to Benfica had many supporters discussing Sinisalo’s ability on the European stage. Alexander Bah fired the hosts into a 2-0 lead – Sinisalo unable to keep the ball out of the net.
Jhon Duran then bagged his brace and Benfica’s third, slotting a close-range finish through Sinisalo’s legs.
The Finnish international has been put firmly in the spotlight after, arguably, two goals he could’ve prevented.
And Mulgrew doesn’t think the 25-year-old has done enough to solidify his place between the sticks.
In the post-match analysis, Mulgrew told Premier Sports Ireland:
“Sinisalo, for me… still scratching for a number one.
“Johnstone’s came in, had a bad time at Ibrox then came out of the team; Sinisalo back in.
“But continually in Europe, for me, Sinisalo doesn’t make the necessary saves.”
Mulgrew went further to say that Martin O’Neill doesn’t know his best XI. There are obvious weaknesses across the team, which ultimately costs them time and time again at this level.
A goalkeeper is under constant scrutiny, but the criticism of Sinisalo isn’t without its substance. Any good side starts with a reliable ‘keeper.
Whether loanee Johnstone comes back in remains to be seen, but based on what supporters have seen, it’s unlikely he’ll have a material effect on things when there are question marks over the defence and midfield options.
