Sammy Braybrooke was absolutely outstanding in Leicester City’s 4-0 win against Bromley on Tuesday evening.
Sammy Braybrooke laid on a hat-trick of assists and was easily the Man of the Match at the Copperjax Community Stadium.
Speaking post-match, Russell Martin was full of praise for Braybrooke: “Amazing… my only disappointment for Sammy is he doesn’t score when he should.
“But again, that’s the next part of his game. The decisions he made and the final execution of pass and cross were really top and Sammy is a really outstanding young player.”
That said, we’ve decided to revisit what Braybrooke’s former Chesterfield coach Kieron Dyer said about him earlier this year as it’s starting to ring very true.
Braybrooke had a really productive loan spell at Chesterfield last season and he got to work with former England international Kieron Dyer.
Speaking back in April, Dyer made a bold prediction about the Foxes academy graduate, and it certainly looks achievable after his super display last night.
“I am fortunate enough to have played at the highest level and this kid is destined for the top,” the former Newcastle United midfielder said.
“Don’t be fooled by his physicality. He looks slight but he has everything to be a top, top player. For me he’s the best midfielder in the league by a country mile.”
Braybrooke has always been tipped for great things but an ACL injury early in his career stunted his development, and he found it tricky to get back to his best level.
Those days are well behind him now, and the 22-year-old looks in great physical shape, so we could be looking at a Premier League midfielder in the making.
Indeed, there’s a long way to go before that, but if he can add a few more goals to his game as Martin referenced, there’s no reason why he can’t play in the top flight.
