The Rams are underachieving, and players and coaches aren’t happy.

Especially Kyren Williams.

After the Rams fell to 2-4 following an 18-16 loss to the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday, Williams didn’t hold back, although he lowered his voice while expressing his frustration.

Williams was asked why “the team couldn’t sustain the energy drive to drive.” to which he responded, “Can’t tell you, bro. Probably because I’m not out there.”

It is notable that he appeared to talk under his breath for that last part.

Sean McVay, the Rams head coach, is also the offensive playcaller. He has built a reputation for being an offensive genius. But his reputation is taking a beating after another lackluster performance, with playcalling becoming one of the culprits for the team’s ineffectiveness.

Williams was then asked if he would like to see an increase of snaps compared to previous years and he said, “I can’t really call on that. It’s not on me but I just think no matter what, we gotta continue to have the energy.

“When plays are made, be excited, be happy so that we can not only uplift the offense, but the defense, the special teams. Being able to have that camaraderie to play off each other and I think that’s gonna allow us to be where want to be.”

Williams finished the day as the Rams’ leading rusher but carried the ball just 10 times for 50 yards, and hauled in three receptions on six targets for 17 yards, while backup running back Blake Corum had nine carries for 42 yards with two receptions for 18 yards.

Despite the veteran’s belief that he isn’t on the field enough, he finished the day having played in 40 of the Rams’ offensive snaps, while Corum appeared in 16.

This season, Williams has appeared in 68.02% of snaps, giving him the sixth most on the team’s offense.

Coming into the season, the Rams were viewed as favorites to win the Super Bowl. But after Sunday’s loss, they are now in last place in the NFC West, with Arizona holding the tiebreaker.

Newly acquired kicker Blake Grupe was removed from the game due to a knee injury he suffered on the kickoff after his first-quarter field goal.

The injuries continued to pile up for Los Angeles as Davante Adams left the game early due to a non-contact knee injury on the team’s final scoring drive.

Quarterback Matthew Stafford connected with Colby Parkinson with 52 seconds left to take a one-point lead.

On the ensuing drive, Arizona quickly moved past midfield, setting up a game-winning field goal to give the game it’s final score.
