After losing Blake Grupe to a torn ACL, the Rams are bringing in a pair of ex-Broncos kickers for workouts.
The Los Angeles Rams have quite the dilemma at kicker.
After Harrison Mevis missed a field goal attempt and had another kick blocked last week, the Rams cut Mevis and replaced him with Blake Grupe. In his first game with L.A., Grupe tore his ACL on Sunday, ruling him out for the rest of the season. Punter Ethan Evans took over kicking duties after Grupe went down on Sunday.
The Rams are now scrambling to find a new kicker ahead of their game against the Las Vegas Raiders on Oct. 25. L.A. will bring in two veteran kickers on Tuesday, both of whom spent time with the Denver Broncos.
The Rams are set to host Brandon McManus and Matt Prater for workouts, according to NFL Network's Mike Garafolo. Prater played in Denver from 2007-2014, setting a then-NFL record with a 64-yard field goal in 2013. Prater was replaced by McManus midway through the 2014 campaign. McManus went on to spend nine years with the Broncos, helping the team win Super Bowl 50 following the 2015 season.
Prater is now 42 and McManus is 35. We'll see if either kicker ends up signing with L.A. this week.
