New England Patriots defensive tackle Christian Barmore is suddenly the subject of trade rumors, following a recent piece by NFL insider Albert Breer.

According to Breer, the former second-round draft pick "could be had" ahead of the trade deadline. He noted Barmore's slip in snap count behind Milton Williams and Cory Durden. The team might want to allocate their resources elsewhere instead of tying them up in a player who isn't on the field as often.

On Friday, Barmore took to social media and posted an image of WBC, WBA and The Ring heavyweight boxing champion Oleksandr Usyk smiling. The post immediately drew a reaction from NFL fans, who speculated that it had something to do with the trade rumors.

Barmore's post could have been about anything. With that said, if the Patriots decided to make a move, they would be creating a void along the defensive front that would have to be filled.

Even if consistency has been an issue for Barmore, there is no doubt that he is a really good player when focused. Given the massive injuries that have already hit the team, it would be risky to cut ties with Barmore halfway into the season.
