Gvidas Gineitis has given a dejected interview discussing his playing time at Torino following the collapse of his move to Celtic.
Talks between Celtic and the Serie A side dragged until the final hours of the transfer window, but an agreement ultimately couldn’t be reached for Martin O’Neill to land his top midfield target.
Earmarked as a replacement for Arne Engels, Gineitis averaged more distance covered than any other midfielder in the Italian top-flight last season. Given the issues that have existed in O’Neill’s midfield since, it’s fair to say that his absence has been felt.
Reports have said that the move could be revived in January, and it sounds like the midfielder has been waiting patiently for his chance for a change of surroundings.

Celtic are held to a draw against Dundee United – what went wrong?
Speaking after Torino blew a late lead to end up losing against Alex Valle’s Como, Gineitis said: “These haven’t been the best months of my life, but I’ve always trained. The manager decides. I wanted to play and I did what I could today.
“The coach wants us to never be afraid and to play with the ball at our feet, whereas last year we played forward. This year we’ve changed a lot.”
