Nottingham Forest head coach Oliver Glasner has discussed the future of playmaker Morgan Gibbs-White.
The Reds keeping their star man out of the clutches of Tottenham Hotspur little more than 12 months ago has proved to be a terrific bit of business. Gibbs-White played an integral role in securing survival last season, finding red-hot form in the closing stages of the campaign to keep the club up.
He remains a key man under Glasner and deservedly earned his late call-up to the England squad for the recent international camp. But the 2028 end date of the 26-year-old’s current contract is beginning to loom large.
On pundit duty for Sky Sports earlier in the week, former Forest boss Steve Cooper suggested his old club could face a fight to hold on to their prized asset. Gibbs-White continues to have admirers and was recently linked with Bayern Munich.

Asked about Cooper’s comments, Glasner said: “Morgan will decide. Nobody else. There are almost two years left on his contract.
"It’s clear that we’re keen to keep him, but it’ll be his decision and what he’s thinking about his future and his career. Then there’ll be a decision taken - that’s what we have to accept. That’s how it is in life.”
Gibbs-White is a doubt for Sunday’s clash with Arsenal (4.30pm kick-off) due to a muscle injury sustained in last weekend’s 3-1 defeat at Crystal Palace. If he does not recover in time, he will be a big miss for the hosts.
Although not necessarily at his magical best so far this term, the No.10 has still been an influential figure. And he will need to keep performing at a high level if he is to get the nod from Three Lions manager Thomas Tuchel for next month’s camp.
Asked what Gibbs-White needs to improve to force his way into Tuchel’s thinking, Glasner said: “I don’t know, it depends how he wants to play or have players in a certain position. Every manager has his own ideas.
“He could have had a few more goals already, he’s had some big chances. But I still think he has potential in every single aspect.
“I don’t know any player who cannot get better. I don’t know any person who can’t get better. In Germany there is a saying that if you stop learning, you will die.”
