The session was marked by high drama, starting with Jack Miller’s crash at Turn 6 early in the afternoon practice. The local hero escaped unscathed but was forced into an early gravel excursion that disrupted his rhythm. Later, a startling incident unfolded at Turn 4 when Bezzecchi and Alex Marquez collided after the Italian got too close to the Honda rider on corner exit. Both riders walked away without injury; however, Bezzecchi’s bike suffered bodywork damage.

Despite the crash, Bezzecchi demonstrated remarkable resilience and pace, reclaiming the top spot on the timesheets at the chequered flag. This performance underscores his status as a strong outside contender for the championship this season. Raul Fernandez’s impressive second place signals Trackhouse’s growing competitiveness, while Marc Marquez’s third-place time shows the veteran’s continued ability to challenge the frontrunners.
The practice session’s full classification featured Ai Ogura in fourth, followed by Jorge Martin and Alex Marquez in sixth. Enea Bastianini, Pedro Acosta, and Diogo Moreira rounded out the top ten, with Fabio Di Giannantonio and Johann Zarco completing the top twelve. Jack Miller’s crash relegated him to 12th, while Brad Binder, Francesco Bagnaia, and Fabio Quartararo filled the mid-pack. Iker Lecuona, Franco Morbidelli, Alex Rins, Maverick Vinales, Augusto Fernandez, and Luca Marini completed the field.
The incidents and tight times highlight the intense competition at Phillip Island as riders push the limits in preparation for the race. Bezzecchi’s ability to set the pace despite adversity positions him as a key figure to watch as the Australian Grand Prix unfolds.
