Mini Vikingo’s status for his upcoming championship opportunity has become uncertain following the October 20 episode of WWE NXT.
The AAA star was scheduled to compete in a six-man tag team match, but an announcement during the show changed the plans.
The update comes just days before Vikingo is due to challenge Rey Fenix for the AAA World Cruiserweight Championship at Héroes Inmortales on October 24. With the title bout approaching, questions remain about whether he will be able to compete.
During Tuesday’s NXT broadcast, General Manager Robert Stone confirmed that Mini Vikingo was not medically cleared to wrestle. No further information was provided about the nature or severity of his condition.
Vikingo had been scheduled to team with E.K. Prosper and Chazz “Starboy” Hall against the Vanity Project trio of Jackson Drake, Ricky Smokes, and Brad Baylor. The match came into effect after tensions between the teams boiled over when Vanity Project eliminated Vikingo and Hall from the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic, followed by a backstage altercation.
With Vikingo unavailable, the advertised six-man tag team contest could not proceed as planned. WWE and AAA have not provided an update confirming whether the setback will affect his upcoming championship match.
The timing is particularly significant because Vikingo earned his title opportunity at AAA x WWE Worlds Collide. He won a fatal four-way match involving Axiom, Je’Von Evans, and Prosper to secure the chance to challenge Fenix.
The planned championship contest at Héroes Inmortales now hangs over the situation, although there is no confirmation that it has been postponed or that Vikingo will be unable to compete. The precise medical details also remain undisclosed.
Meanwhile, NXT confirmed another development involving the Vanity Project. Stone announced that Jackson Drake will defend the NXT North American Championship against E.K. Prosper next week, giving the rivals another reason to keep their focus on each other.
For Vikingo, the immediate priority is his medical status. With the AAA title opportunity only days away, fans will be watching for further updates to learn whether he can make the most of his shot at championship gold.
