Fleetwood Town will discover their quarter-final fate after pulling off one of the great Carabao Cup shocks with a win over Arsenal.

The League Two side are the lowest-ranked team left in the competition, and the first club from the fourth division to reach the last eight since Colchester United in 2019/20. They have company, though, among some Premier League heavyweights: League One’s Bradford City join them in the hat after success over fellow third-tier side Peterborough on Tuesday.

The draw will follow the conclusion of tonight’s fourth-round ties, which includes a marquee encounter between Liverpool and Chelsea at Anfield. Defending champions Manchester City are also in action, continuing their chase for silverware after the Premier League’s seismic verdict.

Carabao Cup quarter-final draw

Fleetwood Town have become the story of the Carabao Cup as the lowest-ranked team remaining in the competition knocked out Premier League champions Arsenal to reach the quarter-finals.

The fourth-tier side stunned Mikel Arteta’s team on penalties, following a 1-1 draw at Highbury, in one of the tournament’s biggest ever shocks to potentially book another blockbuster draw.

There are still plenty of big hitters in the mix, after all, with Liverpool’s heavyweight clash with Chelsea headlining the remainder of the fourth-round matches to be played this week.

Holders Manchester City remain top contenders but face a stern test against high-flying Brighton in another intriguing tie as we approach the business end of the tournament.

Fleetwood could yet face Bradford Town for a semi-final place, however, after the 2012 runners-up defeated Peterborough United to secure their progress on Tuesday.
