WWE has added a major championship match to the October 23 episode of SmackDown. Chelsea Green will defend her WWE Women’s Championship against Roxanne Perez after Perez defeated her earlier this month.

The road to this title match began on the October 12 episode of WWE RAW, where Perez defeated Green in a non-title match. The Judgment Day member picked up the win after Liv Morgan distracted Green at ringside.

The finish gave Green a reason to question the loss, but Perez still walked away with a big victory over the reigning champion. She wasted little time in demanding a shot at the WWE Women’s Championship after the match.

However, RAW General Manager Adam Pearce initially told Perez he needed approval from the SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis before he could arrange a championship match.

That issue has now been settled, with Pearce and Aldis agreeing to the contest. Green and Perez will face each other one-on-one, with the championship officially on the line.

Aldis announced the match on social media. He confirmed that he had received approval from Pearce and WWE management. Both Green and Perez have also agreed to the match, making it official for Friday night.

Green has already been announced to face the Women’s World Champion Liv Morgan in a Champion vs. Champion match at Crown Jewel on November 7. However, a defeat at this week’s SmackDown might change the picture, as Morgan might have to face her own Judgment Day member at the PLE.

Meanwhile, Perez has gone through some losses in recent weeks. Many fans felt she deserved to win the MITB ladder match. The Prodigy finally has a chance to make a major statement.

Moreover, Green could face even more competition in the coming weeks, as Nikki Bella has also been eyeing the title and has had some backstage confrontations with Green in the past few weeks.
