Fans, media react to former MSU OC Jay Johnson taking over play calling for Oregon

A former Michigan State offensive coordinator will be taking over the offense for Oregon, and the Spartans fans and media had some thoughts about that...

Former Michigan State offensive coordinator Jay Johnson will be taking over play calling duties for the Oregon Ducks, the team announced on Monday. Johnson was serving as an analyst this season but will now take over play calling duties after the Ducks fired their previous offensive coordinator midseason.

As many fans will remember, Johnson served as the Spartans offensive coordinator from 2020 to 2023 where the Michigan State offense mostly struggled (outside of the magical 2021 season). Per Justin Thind of 247Sports, Michigan State had the No. 131 offense in points per game in his final year with the Spartans.

Michigan State will get the chance to play Johnson and the Ducks in a few weeks. The Spartans host Oregon on a Friday night game on November 20.
