Stephen Curry scored 29 points in a 120-100 win over Miami, and an early 3-pointer moved him past Oscar Robertson into 17th on the NBA's career scoring list. The milestone came as Golden State's early-season turnaround gathered pace.
Stephen Curry keeps climbing. With 7:03 left in the opening quarter of Thursday’s home game against the Heat, a 3-pointer gave him his 26,711th career point.
The climb has been quick. Six days earlier, Curry scored 31 points in a 112-95 Emirates NBA Cup win over the Lakers. That night he passed Dominique Wilkins (26,668) for 18th place.
DeRozan, now with Denver, has 26,775 points. Hakeem Olajuwon holds 15th with 26,946, which leaves him 210 points ahead of Curry. Curry’s pace makes the gap to DeRozan look short. He entered the Miami game averaging 30 points per game and shooting 42.9% from 3-point range.
That output stands out against last season. Curry had at least 1,630 points in five of his previous six seasons, but injuries held him to 43 games and 1,142 points last year, NBA.com reported.
The milestone came early, but the rest of Curry’s night started badly. He missed seven of his first eight shots and was 2 of 10 at halftime. The teams were tied 53-53 at the break.
Golden State then won the third quarter 38-23. Curry finished 9 of 19 with six 3-pointers. He sat once the game was decided, one point short of a fourth straight 30-point game.
Rookie Yaxel Lendeborg did a bit of everything, scoring 17 while setting up teammates six times and grabbing eight boards. The No. 11 overall pick in June’s draft has become a key part of the turnaround. Curry praised the rookie’s composure and size, calling him “kind of the full package.”
Miami fell to 3-6.
Golden State reached five straight wins two weeks into 2026-27, something it never did during the entire previous season. Thursday’s result extended that run by another game.
The night also carried an emotional note. Klay Thompson played his first game back at Chase Center since leaving Golden State. He shot 3 of 10 for 11 points. One night earlier, his 3-pointer with one second left in overtime had beaten the Clippers 117-116.

Thompson is 36, and both players acknowledged they have limited chances left to face each other.
Golden State hosts the Orlando Magic on Saturday, Nov. 7, at 8:30 p.m. ET. Curry could close in further on DeRozan for 16th in that game.
