Daf Williams said he was 'incredibly proud of his players' as Gloucester City draw 0-0 in the FA Cup Fourth Qualifying Round at National League club Barrow.

The Tigers put in a commendable shift on the 446 mile round trip up north and in doing so have forced a replay at the KMM Energy Stadium on Tuesday evening.

"I'm really proud of the players, that is one hell of a shift that they put in," Williams said.

"When the draw was made I said to myself that Barrow away is up there with the toughest draws we could have had based on their form and style of play.

"It proved right as it was a really difficult game for us but that was nothing short of outstanding."

Both sides had chances with Barrow having plenty of the ball, but the Tigers put in a resolute defensive display to ensure they travelled back to Gloucestershire with a clean sheet.

"We've done a lot of preparation on them, everyone says how hard it is to play against a Barrow side with the players they've got.

"For us to come and perform here in the manner we did is quite impressive.

"I'm super proud of the lads, the way they dug in for the duration of the game was something they should be really proud of."

City goalkeeper Sam Kane pulled off an impressive save with just minutes left on the clock from a free kick, and put in an all round impressive display to keep his side level.

"He made three or four didn't he!

"He hasn't had an awful lot to do since he's come in on loan but we knew today he was going to be busier and he stood up to it really well.

"I'd argue he made one or two outstanding saves so credit to him"

This draw means City are unbeaten in their last five matches, having won three of those, giving them the confidence to pull off an upset in the replay.

"The recent performances and results they've produced show we are turning a little bit of a corner.

"I've been consistent with the narrative that I've been generally pleased even when we haven't picked up results as the performances have been there.

"It's a long old season but you've only got to look at that performance today to warrant you to come and support your football club on Tuesday."
