The New York Giants withdrew their second- and fifth-round draft-pick offer for Indianapolis Colts running back Jonathan Taylor, FOX Sports' Jay Glazer reported Sunday, two days before the NFL trade deadline.
According to Glazer, New York made its bid a few weeks ago. "Now that offer is off the table," he said. He saw no deal happening unless Indianapolis lowered its price.
Glazer also did not think the Giants "have as much interest as they initially thought," according to the New York Post.
According to @jayglazer the Giants offered a 2nd and a 5th for Jonathan Taylor.
Glaze says that offer is “off the table … unless the Colts (price) comes down.”

Indianapolis rejected the offer, Sports Illustrated reported, citing NFL insider Jordan Schultz. Schultz wrote on X that the belief around the league is that the Colts will likely retain Taylor unless they get an offer too good to turn down. New York was the only team to have offered a second-round pick along with other compensation, he wrote.
Sources: The belief around the NFL is that the #Colts will likely end up keeping RB Jonathan Taylor unless they receive an offer too good to turn down. The #Giants were the only team to offer a 2nd-round pick plus additional compensation to this point.

NFL insider Josina Anderson wrote on X that the Giants cooled on Taylor over the price and decided to move on a while ago, before Sunday's game against Philadelphia.
FOX Sports' Ralph Vacchiano wrote that the Colts' asking price is too high for New York, though he saw a possible path back to talks. "I still think the price could come down by Tuesday, and that the Giants would jump back in if it does," he wrote. The deadline is Tuesday at 4 p.m. ET.
New York has two running backs sidelined by hamstring injuries. Starter Cam Skattebo was inactive Sunday after sustaining a strain on his final run in the Week 7 win over Houston. Tyrone Tracy Jr. hurt his hamstring in that game and is on injured reserve.
Devin Singletary started Sunday against the Philadelphia Eagles, with Gregory Desrosiers and Phil Mafah behind him. The Giants signed Desrosiers from the Chargers' practice squad and elevated Mafah from their own practice squad. Head coach John Harbaugh has made clear he wants a Derrick Henry-type bell-cow running back.
ESPN's Adam Schefter wrote on Nov. 1 that Indianapolis would seek a package like the one the San Francisco 49ers paid for Christian McCaffrey. The 49ers sent the Carolina Panthers second-, third- and fourth-round picks in the 2023 draft and a 2024 fifth-rounder in October 2022.
The Athletic's Dan Duggan wrote on X that the Giants' fifth-rounder was a 2028 pick because they have no pick in that round in 2027. "That's a reasonable offer from the Giants, but not surprised the Colts turned it down," Duggan wrote. The Giants traded their 2027 fifth-rounder to the Minnesota Vikings for quarterback J.J. McCarthy.
Taylor, 27, is a three-time Pro Bowler. In August, he signed a two-year extension worth $44 million with Indianapolis. His contract runs through the 2028 season.
Taylor has rushed for 610 yards and eight touchdowns through eight games this season, averaging 4.1 yards per carry. That rushing average is the lowest of his career.
When asked about a trade request last week, Taylor told reporters, "At this point, the hay is in the barn now." He said Indianapolis needed a home victory over the Dallas Cowboys for its fans.
The Colts are 2-6 and have dismissed general manager Chris Ballard. The Denver Broncos, Green Bay Packers, Minnesota Vikings and Seattle Seahawks have also been linked to Taylor.
The Giants play the Washington Commanders on Thursday night.
