‘Are Y’all Not One Team?’ ‘Needs Serious PR Coaching’ — NFL Fans Criticize Kyle Hamilton’s ‘Weak’ Response to Lamar Jackson’s Injury

The Baltimore Ravens have had little time to catch their breath this season, with Lamar Jackson already missing games before returning against the Buffalo Bills.

Unfortunately for Baltimore, his comeback lasted only one play before another injury sent him to the sideline. Backup Tyler Huntley also went down, leaving the offense in the hands of rookie Joe Fagnano.

But after the 36-10 loss, it was Kyle Hamilton’s reaction to the quarterback injuries that gave fans something else to question.

NFL Fans Call Kyle Hamilton’s Response to Lamar Jackson’s Injury ‘Weak’

Jackson injured his right thumb on the opening play of Baltimore’s game against the Bills. His throwing hand struck linebacker Gregory Rousseau as he attempted to pass, forcing him out of the contest.

Backup Tyler Huntley later left with a toe injury in the second quarter, leaving rookie Joe Fagnano to handle the quarterback duties.

After the game, a reporter asked Hamilton how difficult it was for the defense to watch both quarterbacks go down. The safety responded by drawing a clear distinction between the units.

“I mean this with no disrespect, but that [expletive] has nothing to do with us. We’re a defense, and at the end of the day you gotta go out there and play how you want to be remembered,” Hamilton said.

Hamilton’s point appeared to be that the defense still had a responsibility to perform, regardless of the injuries on offense. However, the wording struck some fans as dismissive of teammates dealing with serious setbacks.

One fan questioned the lack of unity in his response, writing on X, “I’m Sorry. Are y’all not one team?? Yeah. This team is too far gone.”

Another fan focused on how Hamilton handled the question rather than the message itself. “He needs serious PR coaching. He’s too intelligent to be answering questions this poorly,” the commenter wrote.

Hamilton’s frustration came after Baltimore allowed Buffalo to gain 426 yards. He recorded seven tackles and a tackle for loss, but the defense could not contain Josh Allen and the Bills.

One fan felt the safety’s comments missed the bigger point, posting, “He lost the plot… they are a TEAM. I like KHam, but this is a weak answer.”

Not every reaction treated Hamilton’s words as entirely wrong. One viewer understood the football point but questioned his choice of language, writing, “I mean, he’s saying regardless of who’s the QB, they need to play defense. Fine message, bad delivery.”

Another fan wanted the defense to show more support for its teammates after Jackson and Huntley went down. The fan wrote, “I know he’s tired of losing, but this just isn’t the right response. Your quarterbacks go down, so you say we need to step up for our guys and keep the ball out of Josh Allen’s hands as much as possible.”

The quarterback situation now creates a bigger concern for Baltimore. Jackson will undergo surgery on his right thumb and is headed to injured reserve, with coach Jesse Minter acknowledging that the injury could end his season.

Huntley is also dealing with turf toe, leaving Fagnano as the team’s available option heading into its Nov. 5 game against Jacksonville. Baltimore will need to prepare better to improve their struggling offense, which sits 25th on PFN’s NFL Offense Impact Metric.

With the Ravens sitting at 4-4 and facing uncertainty at quarterback, Hamilton’s comments have added another point of debate during a difficult stretch for the team.
