Celtic fans driving to Thursday’s Europa League clash with Celta Vigo have been warned of temporary traffic lights in the southside of Glasgow.

In the Shawfield area of the city nearby Celtic Park, emergency Scottish Water repairs are causing delays at the junction of Shawfield Drive and Shawfield Road

While the council initially expected restrictions to ease by the evening of Wednesday 21 October, subsequent updates indicate that traffic management and temporary signals are now expected to continue until 7PM on Monday 26 October.

Temporary traffic lights are in place, and supporters may want to consider alternative routes on their way to the stadium for game with just a few thousand tickets remaining to be sold.

The game is crucial for Celtic if they are to gain any momentum in a European season which has been desperately disappointing so far.

Night one of week 3 of the UCL did not disappoint 🔥 Which game did you watch and which result stands out to you the most?

After exiting the Champions League with a humiliating collapse against LASK, they have opened up their European campaign.

A group of fans who won’t be in attendance at the game are the Green Brigade, who will commence their boycott of Europa League and Scottish Cup matches in protest at their public and private treatment by the Parkhead hierarchy.

Chris Sutton, speaking in the Daily Record, has backed them to go ahead of the boycott despite Sunday’s positive result, saying: “The Green Brigade should stick to their guns. I don’t always agree with the way they go about things but I can understand their frustration and the feeling supporters are being ignored.

“They are taking the kind of action they feel will force Celtic to take note. They are not alone either. I speak to a lot of Celtic fans who feel angry and frustrated at the lack of ambition shown in terms of Europe.

“Sunday’s win was much more like it but supporters have been crying out for European success, and they have not been properly equipped to compete at the Europa level never mind the Champions League.

“Boycotting big matches like this is a drastic measure but I can understand how they see this might be a way to get the message across.”
