Arsenal have been handed a massive boost when they play Bayern Munich in the Champions League in a week's time, in the form of Michael Olise being suspended for the match.

The Gunners and the Bavarians were both in UCL action on Tuesday evening, Arsenal playing host to Lille while Bayern were on the road to Viking.

Mikel Arteta's men were in flying form at the Emirates Stadium, running out 3-0 winners over their Ligue 1 opponents - Jurrien Timber, Eberechi Eze and Bukayo Saka each finding the scoresheet as Arsenal surged to third in the Champions League standings.

Vincent Kompany, meanwhile, endured an uninspired showing in Norway, held to a 3-3 draw by Viking.

Gianni Stensness opened the scoring just two minutes into the match, with Peter Christiansen doubling the hosts' lead ahead of half-time.

While a Harry Kane brace and a further goal from Luis Diaz gave Bayern a 3-2 lead, the club were unable to hold onto their one-goal advantage, Herman Haughen levelling matters in the final stages.

Matters went from bad to worse for the Bavarians around 15 minutes from the end of play, when Olise was shown a red card for throwing a ball at an opponent's face in frustration.

The winger was shown an initial yellow for pulling back Henrik Heggenheim by his waist after being dispossessed.

Olise then picked up the ball as he received his caution, before throwing it into the face of Viking captain, Zlatko Tripic.

Protests from the hosts erupted as Olise was shoved away and confronted by Kristoffer Askildsen and Henrik Falchener, with referee, Georgi Kabakov, returning to the scene to show Olise a second yellow and ultimately, a red, for his actions.

As a result, Olise will now have to serve a one-game suspension, meaning he will miss next week's clash with Arsenal at the Allianz Arena.

It comes as the first red card of Olise's fruitful career to date, and will undoubtedly have a major impact on Bayern's hopes of taking anything from their next UCL outing against a dominant Gunners side.

A man in form, Olise has managed two Champions League goals and an assist under Kompany this season, as well as four goals and two assists in the Bundesliga.

However, Arsenal will not have to worry about the creative threat of the Frenchman on Wednesday, October 21 as a result of his suspension.

It comes as Arteta now turns his attention to Premier League action on Sunday, October 18, when his side travel to the City Ground to take on Nottingham Forest.
