Cricket West Indies (CWI) has announced its international retainer contracts for the 2026-27 season, rewarding Matthew Forde, Amir Jangoo and Mandy Mangru with their maiden senior contracts. The announcement also marks a significant comeback for opener John Campbell, who has returned to the contracted group after seven years.

The latest list features 15 senior men’s contracts, 15 senior women’s contracts and three men’s development contracts. The agreements run from October 1, 2026, to September 30, 2027, covering an important period for both teams as they prepare for major international assignments.

Matthew Forde, Amir Jangoo and Mandy Mangru rewarded for their on-field performance

Forde has earned his first international retainer after making a strong impression in limited-overs cricket. The seamer claimed 10 wickets during the powerplay in T20 internationals and six in ODIs over the past year, making him West Indies’ leading wicket-taker in that phase across both formats.

Jangoo has also received recognition for his impressive performances, particularly his outstanding 233 against Sri Lanka in Antigua in June 2026. His partnership of 401 runs with Test captain Roston Chase established a world record for the sixth wicket in Test cricket.

Meanwhile, Mangru has secured her maiden senior contract following her involvement in the West Indies women’s squad that reached the semi-finals of the 2026 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup.

Their inclusion reflects CWI’s intention to reward players who have contributed to the teams’ progress and strengthen the squads ahead of upcoming challenges.

John Campbell receives WI contract after seven years

One of the biggest talking points from the announcement is John Campbell’s return to the contracted group for the first time since 2019.

The opener enjoyed an impressive 2025-26 season, scoring his maiden Test century with an unbeaten 115 against India in Delhi. He subsequently returned to the ODI team after a six-year absence and made an immediate impact by smashing 101 off 68 balls against India in Guwahati in September 2026.

Campbell’s return highlights how consistent performances can help players regain their place in the international setup. Meanwhile, Keacy Carty, Roston Chase, Justin Greaves and Jomel Warrican are entering the final year of their two-year contracts.
