Former NFL player Damien Harris made a brutal comment about Texas Longhorns quarterback Arch Manning after yet another poor performance from the 22-year-old.

The Longhorns suffered their second straight defeat, this time to the Florida Gators, in a game where Manning threw for 173 yards and made 1 touchdown.

Texas offence looked completely out of their depth after a good start to their game. However, the game eventually slipped away from them due to a lack of intent in the second half. In the fourth quarter, Manning conceded a costly fumble, which ended any chance of a Longhorns comeback, leading to a 27-24 win for the Gators.

The QB is one of the most talked-about players in all of college football, as he has the Manning name attached to him. His uncles, Peyton and Eli, are both arguably the greatest QBs in the history of the game and the expectation from Arch was that he would be able to replicate their glory.

However, so far this has been far from true, and Harris does not want to associate Arch with the Manning name because of that.

Damien Harris labels Arch Manning as ‘below average’

Even when the Longhorns held a 5-0 record, there were a lot of doubts surrounding Manning’s ability as a quarterback. In the last two games, it has only increased, especially after his mistakes have cost the Longhorns.

Harris pointed out the deficiencies in Manning’s game and stated that he would not call Arch a Manning.

“I’m just going to call him Arch, because if you take away the last name you have a below average quarterback and that’s what he is and that’s how we need to evaluate him moving forward. He does not see the football field well, he is not clean… nothing about Arch Manning’s game looks good.

“Arch Manning isn’t playing like a Manning, he’s playing like Arch so until further notice he is known as Arch because we need to stop holding on to his last name and say, ‘We’re expecting more, we want to see more, there’s potential out there,’ No, Arch is a bad quarterback,” said Harris on CBS Sports HQ.

After the game against the Gators, head coach Steve Sarkisian made comments that indicated that Manning’s starting position could be in trouble.

Whether the decision is made for next week’s game against Ole Miss or Manning gets another chance to prove himself will be interesting to see. The 22-year-old has maintained his stance of being proud to be a Longhorns QB but with his repeated poor performances, Sarkisian might have to look at other options if Texas wants to make noise in the playoffs.
