The Arsenal U18s came from behind to secure a dramatic 2-1 win over Tottenham Hotspur U18s.

The young Gunners have been in good form lately. After starting the U18 Premier League season with a draw and two defeats, they went into the North London Derby with three consecutive wins.

It was never going to be an easy game for the Arsenal U18s, and to make things worse, they conceded the opening goal at the start of the second half.

Then, the comeback began, and a brace from Mylo Bernard sealed the win.

Emerson Nwaneri forced to finish Arsenal U18 vs Tottenham U18 as a goalkeeper

The U18 North London Derby was full of drama after a fairly uneventful first half.

Joel Vidal-Philbert gave Spurs the lead early in the second half, but Bernard equalised just a minute later and handed the momentum back to Arsenal.

The drama in goal began in the 75th minute. Jack Talbot collided with Oliver Boast and was unable to continue. He was replaced by Maximillian Lo Presti, who was clattered himself and had to leave the pitch.

Arsenal had no other goalkeeper available at that stage, so Emerson Nwaneri, Ethan’s little brother, donned the gloves and finished the game in goal.

That wasn’t all he did, though. Nwaneri launched the ball into the path of Luis Munoz, who passed it to Bernard out wide. The 16-year-old cut inside and unleashed a fierce strike from distance to win the game.

That’s now four wins on the bounce in the U18 Premier League South for Arsenal and fifth in all competitions. It was also Tottenham’s first defeat of the campaign.

Up next for the young Gunners, just like the first team, is a big game against Bayern Munich in Europe on Wednesday. Adam Birchall’s side lost the last UEFA Youth League game against Lille, and they will be hoping to right that wrong in Germany.
