Frank Lampard is desperate for Coventry City to take three points off Sunderland this weekend, first and foremost to get the Sky Blues heading back in the right direction following back-to-back defeats that resulted in the club dropping to second from bottom of the Premier League.
A positive performance and result in the Halloween fixture agaisnt the Black Cats at the CBS Arena will also enable him to enjoy his annual evening of trick or treating with his two youngest children, complete with full scary costume.
Asked what he’s going as this year, the City boss said: “Well we’re playing, obviously, so I’m missing the children’s excitement. Christine’s actually got me my outfit. I’m not sure what it is yet. I know my son’s going as Scream, which he’s happy with.
“I was the Grim Reaper last year. I like to wear something different each year and I like to be completely covered.”
It can’t be easy being such a recognisable face so dressing up is the perfect excuse to go incognito.
“The local community where we live really celebrate Halloween," he said. "It’s quite American, actually. When we grew up I think Halloween was a big deal. Now it’s a huge deal for children, which is great to buy into it.
“So I will buy into it for the sake of my children but when you’re playing sometimes party time after, whether it’s Halloween or anything else, has to be put on hold until you see what the result is.”
