Oxford have momentum with them - Harris

Oxford United striker Mark Harris feels that his side have "momentum with them" as they push towards the League One play-off positions.

The U's have won four matches, drawn three and lost once so far this season and occupy eighth in the table.

Aaron Ramsey's side have also played the fewest number of games in the league with eight, compared to everyone else who has played nine or 10.

Despite a draw away at Mansfield on Thursday where Oxford were reduced to nine men, Harris believes that he and his team-mates are well placed to continue their encouraging start to the season with their next three matches all at home.

"We've got momentum with us," he told BBC Radio Oxford.

"We've had just one loss all season and in the game on Thursday if we got the penalty that we should have got and kept all of our players on the pitch, then I think we win that game.

"We have momentum with us and with three home games now coming up it's just about keeping that going."

Oxford were relegated from the Championship last season where Harris played 37 times and scored three goals.

So far this season he has netted four times in eight appearances and has played from the start in all of United's League One games.

The striker has been relishing the challenge back in the third tier and has earned call-ups back to the Welsh national side because of his performances.

"It's maybe not as intense [in League One compared to the Championship] but only slightly," he added.

"Different games bring different needs but it's still an intense league and you have to fight for and win every ball.

"It's no walk in the park compared to the Championship, my scoring record's been OK so far, I'll take my current scoring rate of one every other game across the season.

"We're all in this together, the players and staff and we all have one aim [promotion] so hopefully we can do that."
