Bayern Munich get big Arsenal injury boost as two players miss final training session
Vincent Kompany

Joshua Kimmich is expected to be available for Bayern Munich against Arsenal on Wednesday night despite missing his side's final training session.

Bayern sources claim Kimmich's absence was due to "private reasons," while attacking midfielder Jamal Musiala won't be ready in time to feature against the Gunners.

Boss Vincent Kompany is also resting due to a viral infection while Michael Olise trained as normal alongside his team-mates in Bavaria despite his suspension following his red card against Viking last week.

The Belgian will not be taking his press conference. Englishman Aaron Danks, Kompany's No. 2, will instead face questions alongside former Arsenal winger Serge Gnabry.

Kompany also did not take questions after last Saturday's 6-1 battering of RB Leipzig due to illness and a hip injury. Director Max Eberl later told Sky Germany: "He had an infection during the week and a sports injury to his hip. He is currently lying in the coaches' room, but he is doing well."

Meanwhile, Manuel Neuer looks likely to be available in goal after training as normal. The veteran goalkeeper has been struggling with fluid in his foot and hasn't featured since the 2-2 draw with Augsburg on October 10, missing the past two matches.

Arsenal are close to being back to full strength, though William Saliba and Christos Tzolis remain absent as they continue to step up their returns from back and hamstring issues, respectively.

Piero Hincapie was back in light training at Sobha on Tuesday morning but the combative full-back looks unlikely to be available for this contest following his recent ankle injury, sustained in the warm-down after the 2-1 win over Leeds.

Never say never but given he was not training with the group, it seems this particular contest will just come too soon for the Ecuadorian, who previously played in Germany with Bayer Leverkusen.

The Premier League champions are due to fly to Munich from Luton Airport at around 4pm this afternoon, subject to delays. Mikel Arteta and David Raya will then address the media at the Allianz Arena later this evening (7:15 pm local, 6:15 pm UK).

Arsenal have not beaten Bayern on away soil since March 2013 when Arteta was on target for the Gunners. The two sides met in last season's league phase as the Gunners claimed a 3-1 triumph at the Emirates Stadium last November. Jurrien Timber, Noni Madueke and Gabriel Martinelli were all on target.
