Jamie Carragher reckons Michael Carrick is desperate to leave Manchester United following his team's 3-0 thrashing by Bournemouth. The Liverpool icon pulled no punches when evaluating United's dismal situation.
United went into Sunday's clash against the Cherries without a win in seven matches but were outclassed from the start. Seven minutes before the break, Rayan put the visitors ahead and five minutes later, Marcus Tavernier made it 2-0.
A mistake from Senne Lammens handed Evanilson the opportunity to seal a 3-0 victory in the 71st minute, which he duly took, confirming United's defeat and heaping immense pressure on boss Carrick, who had opted to leave captain Bruno Fernandes on the bench for the entire match.
The Portuguese star had publicly criticised his manager during the week, questioning tactical decisions following a 4-1 Champions League loss to Como. Supporters voiced their discontent at the final whistle at Old Trafford and Carrick received applause, but it appears his dismissal may be imminent.
Yet pundit Carragher believes Carrick himself is desperate to leave as quickly as possible. He said on Sky Sports: "He doesn't want to be sitting in the dugout again for Manchester United with those players. He doesn't.

"What we're watching now is a situation where it becomes untenable for everybody... Can you imagine going into the training ground tomorrow and facing Bruno Fernandes after not bringing him on in that situation?
"It's a rancid dressing room. He doesn't want to be involved in that. He wants to be put out of his misery tonight."
On Fernandes, Carragher said: "I don't think he was ever going to bring him on. It was a deliberate decision to leave him on the bench to try and almost embarrass him."
Carrick was rather diplomatic when speaking after the 3-0 loss. He said: "It's really difficult to have a day like this at this football club and feel the emotion and dynamics of what it was like today.
"Not for me personally, but for Manchester United. It was really mixed. I feel responsible for the position I'm in. I've been at the club a long time.
"It hurts a lot going through this. It was a strange mix of emotions at the end of the game. It wasn't a nice way to end the game. It was a tough day for the players.
"We went into the game having been rocked. You can feel that. They're really hurting and disappointed in there. It's not a nice feeling. You have to accept it, we're in that situation."
