Amakhosi fans celebrate as Kaizer Chiefs sweep past TS Galaxy

Kaizer Chiefs supporters had plenty to celebrate on Tuesday night after Amakhosi defeated TS Galaxy 3-0 at FNB Stadium to book their place in the Carling Knockout Cup quarter-finals.

The victory on 27 October 2026 was inspired by a superb second-half hat-trick from striker Wandile Duba, who scored all three goals to help Chiefs overcome the visitors.

The result offered Chiefs a welcome boost after recent disappointments and gave their supporters reason to look forward to the next stage of the competition.

Wandile Duba steals the show

The first half ended goalless, with both teams struggling to find the breakthrough despite creating opportunities. Chiefs returned from the break with greater attacking intent, and Wandile opened the scoring in the 48th minute. Pule Mmodi provided the assist, delivering a low cross that Wandile converted to give the home side the advantage.

Wandile doubled the lead in the 62nd minute after Mfundo Vilakazi missed a penalty. The rebound fell kindly to the striker, who reacted quickly to score his second goal of the evening.

Four minutes later, Wandile completed his hat-trick, running onto a through-ball from Mduduzi Shabalala before finishing confidently past the TS Galaxy goalkeeper.

His three goals secured a convincing win and sent Chiefs into the last eight of the competition, The Citizen reported.

Kaizer Chiefs supporters have reason to celebrate

The performance was particularly encouraging for the Amakhosi faithful, who had seen their team endure a difficult run of results, including an exit from the CAF Confederation Cup.

Wandile’s clinical finishing helped shift the mood at FNB Stadium, with the striker earning praise for his decisive contribution. The victory also eased some of the pressure on head coach Fernando da Cruz ahead of a crucial period for the club.

Chiefs’ second-half display demonstrated their ability to turn a closely contested encounter into a comfortable victory, while their three goals and clean sheet strengthened the significance of the result.

Focus shifts to the Soweto Derby

Following their Carling Knockout Cup triumph, Chiefs will turn their attention to their highly anticipated Soweto Derby against arch-rivals Orlando Pirates on Saturday, 31 October 2026.

The match presents another important test for Amakhosi, who will hope to carry the confidence gained from their victory over TS Galaxy into the derby.

For Chiefs supporters, Wandile’s hat-trick has provided an encouraging moment in the season and renewed excitement as the team continues its pursuit of silverware.

With a place in the Carling Knockout Cup quarter-finals secured, Amakhosi will now look to build on this performance as they prepare for one of South African football’s biggest rivalries.
