Chelsea are reportedly stepping up their pursuit of Bournemouth midfielder Alex Scott ahead of the January transfer window, with fresh discussions taking place over a potential deal.
The England international has emerged as a leading target for Chelsea as they look to strengthen their midfield following Enzo Fernandez’s departure.
However, Bournemouth are determined to secure a substantial fee before allowing one of their key players to leave.
With Liverpool also interested, Chelsea could face a competitive race to sign the 23-year-old.
According to FootballTransfers, Chelsea have entered fresh talks with Bournemouth as they explore the possibility of signing Scott during the winter transfer window.
The report claims Bournemouth are prepared to consider a January sale if their valuation of approximately €120 million (£100 million) is met.
Chelsea had identified Scott as a priority target during the summer but failed to complete a deal before the transfer deadline. The club have continued monitoring his situation and reportedly believe they are well placed to secure his signature.
Transfer reporter Ben Jacobs has also indicated that Chelsea are increasingly confident of landing the midfielder, although a transfer has not been confirmed.
Scott has reportedly rejected several contract-extension offers from Bournemouth, increasing uncertainty over his long-term future at the club.
Despite the growing transfer speculation, Bournemouth have not abandoned their efforts to convince Scott to stay.
Speaking to talkSPORT, Foley said: “We’d love to have Alex stay here and sign a new contract and be part of this team for the long haul.”
He also acknowledged the challenge of retaining talented players when larger clubs show interest, adding: “We haven’t given up, but sometimes players get stars in their eyes, and they think that Chelsea or Manchester City is the right place to go.”
Bournemouth’s willingness to negotiate could depend on their position in the league and whether Chelsea meet their financial demands. The reported asking price would make Scott a major investment for the London club.
Chelsea appear determined to revisit their pursuit of Scott after missing out on him during the summer. Fresh talks suggest a January move is being explored, but Bournemouth’s valuation remains the biggest hurdle.
If the Blues are prepared to meet the reported asking price, a deal could become possible.
Until an agreement is reached, however, Scott remains a Bournemouth player and the transfer is far from guaranteed.
