The 30-year-old has joined from the League One club on a two-month deal.
And Camps' move has been sealed in time for him to be involved in tonight's clash with Harrogate Town.
Former Rochdale and Fleetwood Town midfielder Camps has been on Stockport's books for the last four years.
He has made 122 appearances and been a key part of their climb from League Two to the upper reaches of League One.
But Camps has found first-team outings hard to come by under Hatters boss Jim McNulty this season, amid his return from a back injury that kept him out of action for a spell in the second half of last season.
He has now made the move to Brunton Park in search of first-team football.
"When you get the opportunity to sign someone with Callum's experience at this level, you can't turn that down," said United head coach Rob Elliot as the Blues announced his arrival until January.
"I think his experience will really help some of the young midfielders we've got, strengthen the squad and really add quality in terms of on the ball and around the goal.

Camps was in the Stockport side beaten by Carlisle in the 2023 League Two play-off final at Wembley.
The following season, he helped Dave Challinor's Hatters to promotion from the fourth tier as champions.
He has since featured in a Stockport side that has made the play-offs in the last two League One seasons.
United's sporting director Marc Tierney said: "He’s an experienced midfielder who is comfortable on the ball and will add quality and depth to that area of the squad, also bringing experience of promotion, which is valuable as we look to strengthen the group for the challenges ahead."
