Patriots continue climbing in ESPN's Week 7 NFL power rankings

The New England Patriots defeated the New York Jets 26-19 in Week 6, extending their winning streak to three games and improving to 4-2 on the season.

ESPN ranked the Patriots No. 7 in their most recent power rankings, marking a jump of two spots for the team following their big win over the Jets.

“The Patriots had three starters -- right tackle Morgan Moses (ankle), left guard Alijah Vera-Tucker (hamstring) and right guard Ben Brown(knee) -- get knocked out of Sunday's game,” ESPN’s Mike Reiss wrote. “And the only reason Brown was in the lineup was because opening-day starter Mike Onwenu(ankle) and his replacement Greg Van Roten(hip) were put on IR earlier in the season. The Patriots have started three different OL combinations in their first six games, and there will likely be a fourth Thursday in Chicago.”

Drake Maye led New England’s offense, throwing for 235 yards and three touchdowns. DeMario Douglas led the team with 86 receiving yards and a one touchdown, while Romeo Doubs provided a spark with a 42-yard touchdown reception.

The Jets saw rookie receiver Omar Cooper Jr. score a 48-yard touchdown. New York’s defense forced turnovers to create comeback opportunities, but Smith’s costly fourth-quarter interception halted the momentum.

The Patriots have responded after starting the year at 1-2 with Maye dealing with a great amount of struggles. He has turned the tide with All-Pro-caliber play of late, while the Patriots have found ways to win against a variety of teams in the last three weeks.

New England has strengthened its position in the AFC East standings and is now right in the playoff mix, making them a formidable team on a hot streak.
