Seahawks continue to be bailed out by Rams losing games

It has been a tough stretch for the Seattle Seahawks, losing back-to-back games for the first time since December 2024. Seattle dropped extremely winnable games to the San Francisco 49ers and Denver Broncos by a combined six points, squandering phenomenal defensive performances due to their offense playing hot potato with the football. As a result, the Seahawks are 3-3, matching their loss total from all of last year only six games into this season.

As frustrating as this season has started, the 12th Man does have one exceptionally sterling silver lining to bring them some comfort right now: at least the Los Angeles Rams have had it worse.

Much, much worse.

Yes, the Rams are only one game behind Seattle in the standings, but it doesn't take a mathematician to recognize that 3-3 feels a whole lot better than 2-4, especially since one of those four losses came at home to the Arizona Cardinals. Yes, the Cardinals. They came into SoFi Stadium and stole a win from the Rams. Interestingly enough, that was Arizona's second win at SoFi Stadium this year, which is one more than the Rams have had!

Easily the most glaring weakness for the Rams over the past two years have been their atrocious special teams, and in a cruel twist of fate, it was the exclusively the Cardinals' special teams that won the game. Arizona kicked six field goals to win 18-16, and wouldn't you know it, another bizarre two-point conversion came into play. Only this time, it was the Rams failing to score on one in a way that genuinely shocked me.

Los Angeles quarterback Matt Stafford completely froze, was hit, and the ball was recovered by former Seahawks first round pick LJ Collier.

The Seahawks are well behind the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC West standings because of their recent missteps. But they've been fortunate the Rams also keep losing games the same weeks they do, so LA isn't gaining any ground. Still, the Seahawks are going to have to figure out how to get off this skid they're on, otherwise the advantage of the Rams losing will quickly vanish.
