Earlier this week, ESPN’s Adam Schefter revealed, “The Colts are now open to trading star running back Jonathan Taylor.” The massive update after weeks of speculation means one of the best running backs in the NFL is available before the Nov. 10 trade deadline. But what would a deal cost an interested team?

According to fellow NFL insider Jeremy Fowler, Indianapolis is looking for “a second-round pick and more” in a trade for the three-time Pro Bowler. It is a reasonable rate for a player that is a legitimate game changer for whatever team that might acquire his services. However, that could certainly go up if a bidding war ensues.

Well, on Sunday morning, we got an update on who the interested franchises are. In a new report from Schefter, he claimed the New York Giants, Green Bay Packers, Minnesota Vikings, and Denver Broncos are believed to be the teams that have spoken with the Colts about a deal.

With talks ongoing, we offer up a ranking of who has the strongest chance of making a bold Jonathan Taylor trade in the next week.

4. New York Giants

Taylor would be a huge addition for the Giants offense. It is TBD if JJ McCarthy will be able to consistently play as he did in Week 7, and likewise for the run game. The Colts star is the sort of player where there are no ifs, ands, or buts about what he can bring to a team. He is a proven star that could really boost their chances of winning the NFC East.

However, they are the least likely team to get a deal done. After trading a 2027 fifth-rounder for McCarthy in September, giving up even second- or third-rounders in a trade would mean they will have as few as four picks in next year’s draft. For a team still building out its roster under new head coach John Harbaugh, they would be a very risky decision.

3. Green Bay Packers

If the cost of a Jonathan Taylor trade doesn’t require a first-round pick, the Packers can make a strong offer. Green Bay has 11 picks in next year’s draft, including two in the third, fourth, and sixth rounds, and three in the fifth. They can put together a package of four worthwhile picks, all in April’s draft.

However, they already have Josh Jacobs on the roster. If his potential suspension isn’t stiff, it makes no sense to have two high-priced backs. Furthermore, if the bidding war does require a first-rounder next year, they are out. That is very possible.

2. Minnesota Vikings

The Vikings have gotten rock-solid play from veteran back Aaron Jones Sr. However, he isn’t a game-breaker like Taylor, who can be a threat on the ground or through the air. He is the sort of player that can help give Minnesota an offense that is nearly as good as their elite defense.

A case can be made that Minnesota can make the best offer if they are willing to fork over a first-rounder to complete a trade. A potential package could include their first, one of their two thirds, and one of their three fifth-rounders in next year’s draft.

1. Denver Broncos

The Broncos land at the top of our Taylor trade rankings because they will be the team most desperate to make a deal. If not for a Bo Nix injury before the AFC Championship Game, they probably would have reached the Super Bowl last season, and who knows what would have happened with that dominant pass rush.

After this season, Denver will only have Nix on his affordable rookie deal for two more seasons. Meaning they may only have a two-and-a-half-year title window. With a resurgent Kansas City Chiefs in the division, the Broncos need to make a big move and would be willing to offer whatever the Colts want since they have all their future picks and some extras in 2027.
