Volnei Feltes put the hosts ahead with an absolute stunner. However, Le Bris’ substitutes made a huge impact as Sunderland scored twice in the second half to seal the points.
DR Congo pair Ahoka and Sadiki both scored their first goals for the Black Cats, on a dramatic night in the Europa League.
Robin Roefs – 5
Roefs had very little to do, as the hosts failed to seriously test the Dutch shot-stopper.
Sunderland’s number 22 could have done nothing about the opener, with an outrageous strike from Feltes.
Trai Hume – 5
Definitely could have done better for the goal and closed down Feltes quicker.
Hume was booked just before half-time for sarcastically applauding the referee, after numerous decisions went against the Black Cats.
Luke O’Nien – 6
Over eight years on from being hooked in his debut against Charlton, O’Nien captained the side on their first Europa League away fixture in over 53 years.
The skipper put in a solid performance and could even have come away with a goal. After just four minutes O’Nien headed narrowly past the post.
Omar Alderete – 5.5
Alderete came back into the line-up for a second consecutive Europa League start. The defender performed well at the back but missed a huge opportunity following Lucas Paes’ save.
The Paraguayan was penalised several times for fouls in the opposition box, including one that saw Timur Tutierov denied the opening goal.
Dayann Methalie – 5
The left-back came in for Reinildo for his first Europa League appearance.
Methalie never really had a chance to join the attack but did well defensively and showed his pace on a few occasions.
Jules Ahoka – 8
For someone who had not made a professional appearance until May, Ahoka looks like he has been playing for years.
The Congolese midfielder was a monster at both ends of the pitch. When Granit Xhaka came on Ahoka got forward a lot more which led to his goal and he could have had a second but was denied by the leg of Paes.
Ahoka took his header really well finding the bottom right corner to level the scoring.
Noah Sadiki – 8
Wow. What a finish from Sadiki to seal all three points. The ball fell to the midfielder who smashed it past Paes and into the net. It was a superb finish for his first goal for the club and what a time to do it.
Even without the goal, another solid performance from Sadiki, who worked really well alongside Ahoka. The midfielder battled when out of possession and drove Sunderland forward on the attack.
Nilson Angulo – 4.5
Both wingers really struggled and were subbed just before the hour mark.
In the first half Angulo and Hume both failed to make any real impact from the right and both could be held accountable for not pressing Feltes as he motored forward.
Chris Rigg – 7
The teenager looked like one of the more experienced heads especially in the first period.
Rigg regained possession and looked to get Sunderland on the front foot. He sent a dangerous ball into the box but was unfortunate that no one was there to latch on to it.
Malick Fofana – 4.5
Fofana has yet to reach his full potential on Wearside. He drove forward a couple of times and won a free kick late in the first half but just did not look like creating anything.
The ball fell to the winger in a dangerous area, but he took too long to get his strike off and was quickly closed down.
Timur Tutierov – 6
The Ukrainian was handed a start due to the absence of Wilson Isidor through injury.
Tutierov linked up really well with Rigg and was very unfortunate to have been denied a goal.
The 21-year-old headed home from point-blank range, but Alderete was adjudged to have committed a foul.
Nordi Mukiele – 6
The four changes all made an impact, but Mukiele was key to the comeback.
The Frenchman fought to win back the ball and then sent in a lovely cross, headed home by Ahoka.
Reinildo Mandava – 6
The Mozambique defender was very forward thinking after his introduction, making overlaps for Le Fee, causing problems for the Blue and Garnets.
Granit Xhaka – 7
Xhaka’s introduction showed just how important he is to this Sunderland side.
His experience also allowed Ahoka and Sadiki more freedom with the 33-year-old on the pitch, which certainly paid off.
The Swiss captain set up the winner with a neat lay-off for Sadiki.
Enzo Le Fee – 6
Le Fee came on at left wing, making an immediate impact as Sunderland began creating chance after chance.
The French midfielder linked up well with Reinildo.
