Ross County put in another dominant performance as they hammered Queen of the South in Dumfries to stay top of League One tonight.

The last time the two teams met, Ross County thrashed Queen of the South 8-0 in Dingwall last month.

Queen of the South manager Nicky Clark, who was with Ross County last season, must have been fearing the worst as the Staggies stampeded their way through the first half.

Ross County were looking to follow up from their 5-0 demolition of Montrose the previous week.

The deadlock was broken after just three minutes when Richard Chin ran on to a pass from Brian Graham which he tucked home.

Four minutes later, County were 2-0 up when Chris Hamilton fired a powerful strike from the edge of the box straight into the net.

With nine minutes gone, County were 3-0 up when Akil Wright was unchallenged to nod a corner kick home from close range.

Connor Randall got County’s fourth after 21 minutes when he powered home a header from a Graham cross.

Ross Docherty then made it 5-0 three minutes before half time when he dinked his shot over the goalkeeper to leave the hosts crestfallen at half time.

Liam Smith pulled one back for Queen of the South in the 71st minute but the result was already a formality.

Graham wasn’t to be denied his regular goal for County as he scored with eight minutes remaining to make it 6-1 and then added a penalty to make it 7-1.
