Trump humiliated by long list of 'participation trophies' as FIFA set to scrap Peace Prize

Donald Trump may end up being the first and only recipient of the FIFA Peace Prize, with Mirror US Sport taking a look at some of the more unique honors to have been bestowed upon the President

U.S. President-elect Donald Trump speaks during the FOX Nation's Patriot Awards at the Tilles Center on December 05, 2024 in Greenvale, New York. President-elect Trump was in attendance for the Patriot awards where he was the recipient of the “Patriot of the Year" award. According to Fox the annual awards “honor and recognize America’s finest patriots, including military veterans, first responders and other inspirational everyday heroes."
Donald Trump has, over the years, 'won' many honors

The FIFA Peace Prize may be awarded to only one recipient: Donald J. Trump.

Last year, prior to the 2026 World Cup draw, Trump was honored by FIFA President Gianni Infantino, who gifted the President the inaugural FIFA Peace Prize. However, following a FIFA Council meeting, he may be the only recipient of the award, with the organization's social responsibility committee to assess the merits of the annual honor.

The honor has not been scrapped yet, but it may be done away with altogether. It may also be determined that politicians will be excluded from receiving the honor. The committee is expected to report back at the next FIFA Council meeting in Doha in December.

And with that in mind, Mirror US Sports decided to take a look at some of the more 'unique' honors to have been bestowed upon Donald Trump over the year...

"One of the great honors of my life"

Trump claimed the FIFA Peace Prize was "one of the great honors" of his life. "We want to see hope, we want to see unity, we want to see a future," Trump was told by Infantino last year. "This is what we want to see from a leader, and you definitely deserve the first FIFA Peace Prize. This is your prize. This is your Peace Prize." Trump said after being awarded the prize: "This is truly one of the great honors of my life. "Gianni has done an incredible job. It is a nice tribute to you and the game of football, or as we call it, soccer. It is beyond the numbers we thought were possible. "The world is a safer place now. The USA was not doing well a year ago; now we are the hottest country in the world right now."

Patriot of the Year

Back in December 2024, following his Presidential Election win, Trump was named America's greatest patriot by FOX, receiving the 'Patriot of the Year' award. "This is a hell of a nice crowd. I like this one," Trump told the audience in attendance at Tilles Center, New York, after they broke into a "51" chant. "This is a nice crowd. That’s an interesting statement. Thank you very much. I do appreciate all that pent-up anger and love. That’s everything at one time.”

Person of the Year

Just days after he was named 'Patriot of the Year' by FOX, Trump was, for the second time, named TIME's 'Person of the Year', having previously done so in 2016 following his first election win against Hillary Clinton.
