Should the Baltimore Ravens make a trade to solve their QB issues?

Things have quickly escalated into a worst-case scenario for the Baltimore Ravens at quarterback.

It seemed like everything was good for the franchise heading into Sunday's showdown with the Buffalo Bills, with Lamar Jackson returning after missing three games with an ankle injury. But then Jackson injured his thumb on the first play of the game, and it has since been revealed that he will need thumb surgery and will be placed on the IR list. Then, backup Tyler Huntley left the game with a turf toe injury, which is expected to keep him out for an extended period.

Should the Ravens trade for a new QB?

Joe Fagnano stepped in as the emergency quarterback for the Ravens against the Bills, but was less than impressive – going 10-for-21 passing for 91 yards and one interception in the 26-point loss for Baltimore. It will be difficult to find someone to inherit the starting role this week, with a short turnaround before a Thursday Night Football clash with the Jaguars, but that will lead into a 10-day off period for the Ravens, with their next game on Monday Night Football in Week 10.

Whenever Huntley is back in action, he's also just 1-2 as a starter in relief of Jackson this season, and has a losing Record as a starter during his tenure with the Ravens. So if the Ravens think there is a chance at saving their season, it might be time to make a trade – and that's exactly why Hayden Winks of Yahoo Sports made the case for such a move on the Football 301 podcast.

"This team is too good, and the AFC is too open, for them not to make a trade for Jacoby Brissett or pick your favorite quarterback. I think they have a Week 13 bye – get someone in there that can steal a couple games, they have a couple winnable games before they get to their Week 13 bye," Winks said.

"I think you owe it to Lamar Jackson and Jesse Minter, and I'll say Declan Doyle and Zay Flowers...there's too much upside still, as sad as this team has been, to not trade for somebody."

Only time will tell what the Ravens decide to do, and it will be hard to make anything happen before Thursday's showdown with the Jaguars. But after that, the next four games are very winnable – with the Chargers, Panthers, Texans, and the Buccaneers making up the rest of the schedule before the Ravens close with four straight AFC North games. And the right trade at QB could put the Ravens in a position to still have a shot at the divisional crown in those final weeks.
