Liverpool must pay over €60m to complete Manu Kone signing before Chelsea

Liverpool are reportedly one of the clubs keen on signing Manu Kone, although they may face serious competition from Chelsea.

Manu Kone was a target for Liverpool in 2022, when Julian Ward was last in charge of the club’s transfers, so it should be unsurprising to learn that the Reds are revisiting their interest in the 25-year-old.

His game has developed quite nicely over the last few seasons, with his game now much more composed and mature. At 6 ft 1 in, he would add so much-needed steel to the Liverpool midfield.

Liverpool and Chelsea interested in Kone

According to a report from TuttoMercatoWeb, Liverpool remain interested in signing Kone, who might leave AS Roma next season. If he does leave, both Liverpool and Chelsea “have him in their crosshairs.”

Roma reportedly expect “a bid of over €60m is on its way” after Roma rejected Chelsea’s €60m was rejected in the summer.

TMW reports: “Roma are also considering their midfield for the future. Koné remains in the sights of Liverpool and Chelsea. A strong offer, higher than the €60 offered by Xabi Alonso’s club, could arrive at the end of the season.

“Precisely for this reason, Roma is taking action and monitoring Bakola with great interest . Sassuolo acquired him a year ago from Marseille for €10 million. Juventus and AC Milan are also already interested in him.

“The Giallorossi are waiting but could soon begin taking their first steps. In short, the plans for the coming months are very clear. The first step, however, will be the winter transfer window, which will be crucial in completing the squad in every department.”

Kone or Camara?

Liverpool have seen links to Kone increase over the last few weeks. Subsequently, links to Camara haven’t been as frequent, but I would much prefer to see Camara join Liverpool in January.

The AS Monaco star is perfect for the Andoni Iraola style of football. He can win the ball back with ease, has good distribution, and can also demonstrate individual brilliance if options are limited.

Liverpool’s midfield mainly needs increased ball-winning ability, but Camara balances that very well with his technical traits.
