OWINGS MILLS, Md. -- Tyler "Snoop" Huntley is out for the season with a turf toe injury on his right foot, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter and NFL Network's Ian Rapoport on Wednesday, further devastating the Baltimore Ravens' quarterback room.
Tests revealed that Huntley needs surgery, sources said.
Huntley, the Ravens' top backup, was injured in the second quarter of Sunday's 36-10 loss at Buffalo when Bills defensive tackle Ed Oliver twisted the quarterback to the ground after he got rid of the ball.
In addition to Huntley's injury, starting quarterback Lamar Jackson is out indefinitely with a right thumb injury that he sustained on his first snap Sunday. It is "potentially" a season-ending injury, coach Jesse Minter said.
With Jackson and Huntley both out, undrafted rookie quarterback Joe Fagnano will make his first career start Thursday night at the Jacksonville Jaguars. Fagnano wore a brace on his right ankle during Tuesday's practice but is set to play after being a full participant.
Fagnano will be the second undrafted quarterback to make his first career NFL start in primetime. The first to do so was Cooper Rush, who led the Dallas Cowboys in 2021 to a game-winning drive against the Minnesota Vikings.
The injuries to Jackson and Huntley have left Baltimore with extremely inexperienced options at quarterback. The Ravens' top three quarterbacks -- Fagnano, Austin Reed and Kedon Slovis -- have combined for 23 career pass attempts, 44 total snaps and zero touchdown passes in the NFL.
Reed was signed to Baltimore's practice squad Monday, and Slovis was signed off the Green Bay Packers' practice squad Tuesday.
Huntley, 28, had started three games for the Ravens this season while filling in for Jackson. He led Baltimore to an overtime comeback win in Atlanta on Oct. 11.
Undrafted out of Utah, Huntley is 8-11 as a starter in his seven-year career, throwing 17 touchdowns and 11 interceptions.
