FC Bayern has carved out an impressive, unique position in top-tier European soccer this season. Following FC Barcelona’s Champions League defeat against Paris Saint-Germain, the German record champions are the only team from Europe’s five major leagues that has yet to lose a single competitive match this season.

While numerous top European clubs have already suffered setbacks, the Munich team remains undefeated. Yet not everything has gone according to plan. In both the Bundesliga and the Champions League, FCB has recently had to settle for draws.

Nevertheless, no opponent has yet managed to defeat Bayern. Particularly noteworthy: Kompany’s team has combined its winning streak with an extremely offensive style of play.

Barcelona loses – Bayern now alone at the top

Until Tuesday evening, FC Barcelona was also among the undefeated teams in Europe’s top five leagues. However, that changed with their loss to Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League.

This leaves FC Bayern as the only club from the Bundesliga, Premier League, La Liga, Serie A, and Ligue 1 that remains undefeated in all competitions.

This statistic should give the Munich side an extra boost of confidence ahead of their next major international test.

That said, Bayern has certainly gone through some tough stretches. In the Bundesliga, the record champions had to settle for a 2-2 draw against FC Augsburg.

The 3-3 draw at Viking Stavanger in the Champions League was also a setback. Despite some difficulties along the way, however, the team managed to avoid a loss.

The squad’s quality was then on full display in the convincing 6-1 victory over RB Leipzig.

In particular, the offense—led by Harry Kane, Michael Olise, and Luis Díaz—was in impressive form.

Arsenal aims to end Bayern’s winning streak

However, this remarkable unbeaten streak is about to face a real test.

On Wednesday evening, FC Bayern will host English champions FC Arsenal at the Allianz Arena. The Londoners are among the strongest teams in Europe and have won their first two Champions League matches.

For Munich, therefore, it’s not just about securing important points in the Champions League, but also about continuing their remarkable streak.

The circumstances, however, are far from ideal. Michael Olise is suspended after receiving a yellow-red card against Stavanger. Additionally, there have recently been question marks surrounding the availability of Manuel Neuer and Joshua Kimmich.

Head coach Vincent Kompany is also feeling under the weather and could miss this top-of-the-table clash.

Nevertheless, Bayern are heading into the match with a great deal of confidence. After all, the team has already proven on several occasions this season that it can overcome even difficult situations.

A win against Arsenal would not only send an important message in the race for the Champions League. It would also impressively reinforce Munich’s currently unrivaled position in top-tier European soccer.
