Fabrizio Romano has given an update on two players in AC Milan’s orbit: Nicolo Tresoldi of Club Brugge and Endrick of Real Madrid.
The headliner of Tuesday night’s Champions League action was undoubtedly Tresoldi, the Brugge star who scored a hat-trick at San Siro against Inter. It was well-known before hand that he is a boyhood Milan fan, so it certainly carried a bit of extra meaning for the 22-year-old.
Beyond his future at club level, there is also a tussle between Germany and Italy to get his commitment on the national team front too. Fabrizio Romano spoke about the future of Tresoldi on his YouTube channel, and MilanNews relayed what he said.
“Nicolò Tresoldi is always happy to talk about his great Milanismo. He’s been a Milanista since he was a child, he’s a true fan, he’s a true Rossoneri. He doesn’t fail to repeat it, he did it before the match, after, but also during the last few years,” he said.
“His support is absolutely genuine. Tresoldi dreams of one day wearing the AC Milan shirt, he’s always dreamed of it, he’s always told his team-mates about his love for the AC Milan shirt over the years.
“In reality, over the past few years, since Tresoldi began to showcase his talent, Milan have never really positioned itself to acquire him. Aside from the usual scouting, of course, also because there are very few young, strong forwards in Europe at the moment, and therefore Tresoldi is clearly being watched by various clubs.
“Milan may have been following him, certainly, but without actually negotiating a deal. Roma tried, appointing an intermediary last summer to assess the feasibility of the Tresoldi deal. Atlético Madrid also tried, but without success. Club Brugge chose to keep him for at least another season.
“I can tell you that Barcelona also considered him when they realized Julián Álvarez was close at hand at the end of the transfer window. Gabriel Jesus eventually arrived, but the Blaugrana also had Nicolò Tresoldi among their options. He’s a player Hansi Flick follows very closely, always paying close attention to young talent, as does director Deco.
“In short, Barça followed Tresoldi. Unfortunately, I think it’s difficult for our football to bring him to Italy today, not impossible because with a significant investment anything is possible, but clearly today many teams are interested in him.”
Meanwhile, Romano also spoke about the future of Real Madrid talent Endrick. The Brazilian has struggled for minutes all season under Jose Mourinho, but helped engineer a comeback against Roma at the Stadio Olimpico last night with a goal and an assist.
“Gasperini spoke about Endrick, saying that the transfer market isn’t something he’s interested in at the moment, so he’s closed the door a bit to Roma, who have always been linked with Endrick. Roma tried last summer, but at the moment Roma have put a stop to it,” he said.
“But José Mourinho also spoke about Endrick and said that whoever wants to sign the Brazilian will have to do so over his dead body, they will have to fight with him because Endrick adores him and therefore he won’t leave. Mourinho has closed the door on a possible departure for Endrick.
“The last few weeks have been filled with rumours about Endrick. The situation is very similar to last summer. It’s still very early, we’re only in October, and to be realistic, we’ll need to wait until at least December.
“But today it’s the same situation as last summer, when AC Milan, Roma, Aston Villa, and even Liverpool, who wanted him permanently, tried. Real Madrid, however, turned them all down because the player isn’t moving from Madrid.
“And until Real Madrid changes their stance – and I’d say that from what Mourinho has said, that’s the scenario – clearly, all we can do is wait.”
