Forest Green could face Luton again after last season’s FA Cup thriller
GOAL - Forest Green Rovers defender Ryan Inniss (5) and Forest Green Rovers forward Tom Knowles (11) celebrates the equaliser during the FA Cup match between Luton Town and Forest Green Rovers at Kenilworth Road, Luton, England on 31 October 2025.

Forest Green Rovers could be handed a rematch with Luton Town in the FA Cup first round if they overcome Chesham United at home in Tuesday night’s replay.

Rovers came agonisingly close to a memorable result against Jack Wilshere’s Luton in last season’s first round, fighting back from three goals down before suffering a heartbreaking 4-3 defeat at Kenilworth Road.

The League One hosts appeared to be cruising towards victory after Lamine Fanne opened the scoring in the 23rd minute before Nahki Wells doubled their advantage seven minutes later.

Wells struck again eight minutes into the second half to put Luton 3-0 ahead, leaving Rovers facing an uphill battle.

But Robbie Savage’s side produced a remarkable response, with three substitutes turning the tie on its head.

Tom Knowles pulled one back in the 61st minute with a deflected effort before Kyle McAllister converted a penalty seven minutes later after Harry Whitwell was brought down in the box.

Aidan Dausch then completed the comeback in the 79th minute, firing home to make it 3-3 and stun the home supporters.

Rovers came desperately close to completing an incredible turnaround when captain Laurent Mendy headed against the crossbar, but Luton delivered the decisive blow in stoppage time.

Substitute Gideon Kodua scored in the 92nd minute to restore the Hatters’ lead and send them through to the second round.

Forest Green still had a chance to force extra time, but Dausch missed a late opportunity from close range.

Now, with Luton potentially waiting in the first round again, Forest Green must first get past Chesham to earn another crack at the Hatters.

Ties to be played Saturday, November 7. £47,750 in prize money for winners, £15,800 for losing teams.
